Would love to have gone inside but we were short of time. We end up just looking around the candy shop but everything was so nostalgic and brought us back in time.
Visited this retro museum on New Year Holiday, almost close to their closing time so it was vacant. Highly recommended for those who likes retro related things. We can experience Japan’s old times’ athmosphere, such as their school, rooms, shops, cinemas, and many more. There are small gift shop and small confectionary and old school’s snack shop.
Very cool little museum. There is near zero english explanation but we had fun wandering in the different areas retracing Japan iconics Pop culture elements. You can even play Pachinko, retro video games, etc.
Very interesting place to visit. You can enjoy a lot of antique items and tiny antique shops in the museum.“School lunch” is also available after the visit for 800 yen.
A pretty fun museum with some activities (playing old famicom games, using rifles like in fairs, playing old arcade games, pachinko and pinballs). You get to see a lot of places as they might have looked back then (barber shop, doctors office, house, electronic stores, etc). There is also a Japanese old candy store next to the museum.
Who doesn’t love cheesecake? Though small in size, their cheese taste do pack a punch. A small outlet with few window seats for people watching and hiding from the rain.
Cash only here.

Great chowa things photo spots!
Highly recommended! Very realistic replication of the historic Japanese daily life scene, abundant collections which many of them could be touched and experienced. Much fun for all ages, and heating available during winter. You may also buy a combo ticket to visit the gallery upstairs, but we just visited the ground floor.
